Girls who did this used to really piss me off.
And then I tried it. 
And it’s so freaking comfortable. 
But I only do it if the shirt covers my butt.. so I think it’s okay. Except for that time I wore my OU shirt and leggings. Those of you who respect pants, I’m sorry.

however, your point was that it’s not okay for girls to wear leggings without something covering the butt because it makes them look slutty, right?

and i don’t know.  i’m not as invested in feminism and that type of stuff as i should be, but your post just seems a little bit counterproductive, in my opinion.

I don’t think it has anything to do with being slutty at all, actually. What is slutty about leggings? I just think its dumb cus you’re not wearing pants. Also, what Ais said.

literally the only aesthetic difference between leggings and pants are that leggings are thinner and tighter.  in all other regards, they perform the same functions as pants.

so why did it “piss you off” when people wear leggings as pants, if it’s not because they bare more legs/booty?

this doesn’t really have to do with slut-shaming… it’s not that the leggings are offensive because they’re ~omg so indecent~, it’s just that alexis (and the other people who reblogged this) are expressing distaste for a specific fashion trend that does against convention

it’s not because they’re super thin or tight - god only knows how tight jeans can get - it’s because the material they’re made out of is traditionally reserved for yoga pants or, you know, leggings

leggings are designed to be worn under dresses/skirts, so wearing a long shirt + leggings is pretty functional. but wearing leggings with a shirt just looks ridiculous

it’s not anti-feminist to think that leggings aren’t pants and to not wear leggings as pants

personally, i think that leggings should never be worn because they are just ugly.

but if someone is of the opinion that they look fine underneath skirts/dresses/whatever, i don’t understand what would be wrong with leggings without the skirts/dresses/whatever.

i think that leggings constitute pants.

and i think that if the argument is presented that they are not pants, you have to look at the reasoning behind it.

they’re stretchy and thin, yes, but they are clearly not just for yoga anymore, they are a hugely trending fashion, and that’s fine if they piss you off, but i think that it’s really important to understand that the only reason that they are not “okay to wear without a long shirt” is because they are not as modest as pants.

any time i hear anyone talking about leggings, it’s always about the butt.  always.  

why?

because it’s not really acceptable in today’s society to show your butt in form-fitting material.  pants are fine because they are thick and they hide your curves, but leggings aren’t because they show them off.

i hate leggings because they are ugly, but i think alexis’s statement was saying she got pissed off when girls wore them without something to cover up because they are not acceptable pants.

and that’s where i think it just kind of plays into the whole “cover your body be modest don’t be too sexy” mindset.

i don’t know.  i don’t think that my mind is going to be changed, and i don’t think that you two will change yours either, and that’s fine with me, i am happy to disagree.
